Pony Express Rides On! is by St. Joseph native Mabel Loving. In the early 1900s she wrote surviving Pony Express riders asking them to write her of their experiences in the Pony Express. The letters she received and used in writing this book are in the collections of the St. Joseph Museum. Loving worked on the book for 40 years and died in 1957, before its completion. St. Joseph librarian Mary Reichert had the book published for her. Two chapters have not been found.
The book is good for her use of primary sources. However, researcher must be careful as some of the reminiscences conflict or are in error.
Copy 3 is from the Don Reynolds library and includes a card by him which states that this book was published in limited numbers (100 copies) to fulfill provision of the author's will (Mrs. Mabel Loving). The First Trust Co., trustee.
