Description
Pony Express Stables, 912 Penn, Photo, c. 1940s b/w. Photo shows the front of the building perhaps as it appeared in the late 1940s. Pony Express Stables is written above the stable doors, no other signs are visible on the building as they were in 1920s Voltz occupation or 1940 Lee Roofing occupation. The building is unoccupied in this photo with weeds growing in front.
Caption by Don Reynolds that may have appeared in Museum Graphic: "In the late 1940's the old stables was about to fall in. The side walls were leaning, a portion of the southwest corner had caved in and it seemed to be all but forsaken. Voices were many in its behalf, but more than that was needed."
Handwritten on back of one copy: "Property of St. Joseph Historical Museum, Roy Coy, Curator. To be returned by CC. Jackson".
