Pony Express Statue, Civic Center, Photos (11), c. 1960s. b/w. one gold-tone. Photos of the Pony Express Rider Monument at Civic Center, 10th & Frederick Avenue. Some photos taken in winter, with snow covering parts of Rider and horse. Some with legends on back, as below: 96.1P.529 = Statue in gold tones, Side of monument, Rider facing photo right. "The Pony Express plaque on statue base, Legend at bottom: "St. Joseph to Sacramento". 96.1P.530 = Statue, Side of monument, Rider facing photo left, full pedestal view. typed on back: "Pony Express Memorial, St. Joseph, Mo., Frederick at 10th". 86.1P.531 = Statue, View looking at front (west) & north side of horse/rider, with partial view of pedestal. Handwritten on back: "Pony Express Memorial, St. Joseph abounds in historical markers. One of the best known and most photographed is the Pony Express Memorial. the marker is a life size bronze statue of a Pony Express Rider and his mount.
