I remember him as a strict but just man, very entertaining. He made up lively stories for his
grand children about the "knife man" who lived in the basement, the "river rat" who lurkrd
around every where, and sundry other household brownies. He loved history and historical
biography and had read Will Durant, every volumn, end to end. He believed in the efficacy
of the military for every young man and he loved to hunt and bred and trained many fine
English pointers. He was a man of his word.Context
