Worn poster with an illustration of a house by Torrance Enslow in the forest with the cursive caption:
“Marwythe”
and a handwritten note in pencil saying:
“T. Enslow 1035 (unintelligible)”
On the back of the poster is a printed message, saying the following:
“see the mountain’s barren crests
in distance Diamond clear
And waters leap from giant breasts
To might rivers here;
I feel the things god has made,
A burning sun and cooling shade,
And winds all spiced with pine.
I see the Yoho Bungalow
It’s welcoming windows all aglow,
Its dainty cabins in a row
And wish it’s days were mine.
I took on Takkakaw at night
Bathed in a phosphorescent white
Of summer moon; a glorious sight,
And watch the light fantastic play
Of waters rent to shreds of spray
At Angel’s Stairs, Point Lace and high
Where Twin Falls poise against the sky,
Upon its bridge I feel the shock
Of madness that can fight the rock;
The wolf inferno in its face
To find another resting place.
It’s glacial lakes; what words are fair
Where genius and the brush despair?
An amphitheater upthrown
Whose rim is solitude of stone
And pinnacle and glacial snow.
I gaze into the bowl below
(Unintelligible)”
