Property P37: Caddoan Mississippi, Object: pottery, Artist/Maker: Caddo: AR, Title/Model: Three Caddoan Pottery Works, Date/Region: 800CE - 1200CE / Arkansas, Medium/Technique: earthenware / incised coil, Edition/Series: unique, 1 of 1, Size: 3.75" H x 2.5" W to 10.5" H x 8" W (range), Condition: fair - good, Signature/Inscriptions: n/a, Exhibitions/Literature: n/a, Description/Notes: The tall water vessel and the small olla on both sides are in poor condition, but many Caddo earthenware pots found in the marketplace have severe condition issues similar to those found here. There are pots that remain intact without restoration work. The taller water vessel retains (weathered/wore) unintelligible geometric incisions and is quite unique and rare. The two earthenware pieces on the left are of similar composition without incisions. The broken pot on left has a white adhesive sticker with "296" in black marker.
