Description

Prints/Framed images of Kachinas with pamphlets attached to back/C-image of a man carrying a bow and rattle with a black bearded mask/signed "Hoyesva Oraibi"/pamphlet "H'e-'E-E the Woman Kachina …about H'e-'e-e Black face mask with a beartd, hair rolled on one side of head and hair hanging loose on the other. Wears a woman's dress and a shawl made from another dress, wedding sash, and red moccasins. He carries a bow, arrows, quiver, and a rattle. The Hopi legend concerning this Kachina goes back to the olden days when the Hopi villages, which are now in ruins, were attacked by the enemy. Legend tells that the daughter of a chief was being groomed by her mother when the attack occurred. With only a part of a butterfly hairdo completed and with no men to defend the village, H'e-'e-e ran to gather the men from the other villages and defeated the enemy. …about the Kachinas When a Hopi Indian places a mask upon his head and wears the appropriate costume and body paints, he believes that he has lost his personal identity and has received the spirit of the Kachina he is supposed to represent. As far as can be determined the Hopis believe that through a priest, usually an old man not in costume, the prayers of the people are given to the Kachinas to carry to the gods. Therefore, the Kachinas play a role somewhat similar to the saints of the Christian religion. Som, like saints, are supposed to be the spirits of very good men, however, some Kachinas are demons or ogres. …about Motorola In silicon switching transistors, the new annular process (which Motorola introduced last year) has enabled us to design and fabricate virtually any PNP or NPN silicon transistor we choose…with performance characteristics-such as high voltage- previously impossible to obtain with any other manufacturing technique! Whatever your requirements-from micropower logic switching to high-current core driving-Motorola has the silicon transistor to give you the kind of circuit performance you never thought possible. Why not make us prove it…Call us today!"/12"x9.5"0.5"
