Description

"The quilt is owned by Veronica Rose who acquired the quilt at a flea market on the east coast. It is a friendship style quilt 60” x 70” and what is unique is the names embroidered on it include businesses. It’s tentatively dated to 1914 but can’t be any later than 1923 because that is the year the St. Joseph Veterinary College closed. The donor originally thought the quilt was associated with Standish, Maine because of the listing of the veterinary college. However, a museum up there researched some of the other businesses listed and connected them along with the college to St. Joseph." Mary Chapman conducted the research for this quilt
