Reminiscences of William Darnell, 1855. Photocopied pages from the diary of William Darnell who settled in Pottawatomie County, Kansas.
Result of interviews with William Darnell, during the years 1925 to 1928 by Geo. Root. These reminiscences embody family history, Indian and pioneer sketches, ranging from North Carolina in the Revolutionary War times to Illinois before and after the Black Hawk War to 1855, together with the trip his family made by ox-team to Kansas Territory and their experiences establishing a home on the frontier. He also recalls early day happenings in the Rock Creek neighborhood, Pottawatomie County, where his family settled in 1855. Sons of Darnell assisted with the work.
