Scope and Content

Family scrapbook of the MacDonald family John Doyle Barrow's mother, Jesse, was born a MacDonald. They were not takers of photographs or makers of scrapbooks to any great extent. Jesse married John E. Barrow and was the sister young Lieut. Donald M. MacDonald, killed in action in WWI. Any member of the MacDonald clan in St. Joseph would likely be interested in the letters and news clippings from the book. There are numerous articles on a Major Donald M. MacDonald, an early pioneer and "oldest confederate veteran in Missouri". Here is also information on Maj. Clay C. MacDonald. This all seems to refer to soldiers and participation in the Civil War, the Mexican War, and the First World War.
