This album contains snapshots of Margaret Sparrow's side of the family: his parents and grandmother and many other relatives and friends who she ils unable to identify. Some of the locations are noted. Her great-grandmother on her father's side, Alla Ransom Berg, her paternal grandmother's mother, was born in Michigan. The family must have later moved to Salina, KS. where she met and married Charles W. Berg on June 4th, 1896. Her great-grandfather, August Kessberger, her paternal grandfather's father, was born in Germany in or near Wiesbaden. He emigrated to the US and worked as a professional photographer in Springfield, IL. He collected early newspaper portraits of Abraham Lincoln, now known as the Kessberger Archive. I know little about Alla Ransom except from what I can observe from her portraits: She was a lovely person and both her looks and good cheer skipped a generation and came down to my father, Jack Kessberger. He married my mother, Catherine Barrow, the grand-daughter of Josiah Beattie Moss.Context
