Seven Trails West includes articles on the seven trails across the United States west of the Mississippi River starting with the Lewis and Clark Expedition: The Santa Fe Trail; The Oregon-California Trail; The Mormon Trail; The Pony Express; The First Transcontinental Telegraph; and the First Transcontinental Railroad. An early chapter is about Mountain Men and the Fur Trade. This book is noted on the cover as an "Uncorrected Proof." At the end of the book are Notes; Acknowledgments; Chronology of the Trails, 1800-1890; Trail Associations; Selected Bibliography and Captions. Under Acknowledgments, Rich Nolf, Sarah Elder, Don Reynolds, Bonnie Watkins and Jackie Lewin are all given credit for having had a part in contributing or proof reading information contained about the Pony Express. The inclusion of "Captions" at the end indicates that the final publication of Seven Trails West was to include many illustrations and photographs. Also included with this book is an invitation to attend a Rendezvous to Celebrate the Publication of Seven Trails West at The University Club in New York, New York on April 26, 1996. This library has a copy of the final published edition of Seven Trails West.
