San Francisco: the Pony Express arrived Friday from St. Joseph MO without a pony. The high altitude of the Sierras had given the pony a cold--and burned out some valves in the transporting truck.
The horses made about 300 miles of the 760 miles from Salt Lake Nolan said but we were losing so much time that we depended more on the truck after we left Fallon Nevada.
