Jello again....
Bet you're surprised to get another Air Mail letter, after receiving the one I wrote last nite.
I've got a pleasant (?) surprise for you. I'm coming home on furlough next Wednesday, November 1st. I found out today.
There are 17 of us leaving on furlough next Tuesday. We leave from the field about noon, and come into Camp to get our clothes, etc. from the barracks.
My clothes will be sorta wrinkled and messy, but it'll be worth it getting home.
I packed some of my stuff in my traveling bag this afternoon, when we had a big clothing and equipment inspection. So I won't have to hurry too much on Tuesday.
Darn! The Company is not being paid until November 6th, instead of Oct. 31st, so we furlough boys will miss out. However, don't send me any money. I have eleven dollars, which I find, after asking one of the guys who lives in St. Joe who just returned from furlough, is sufficient to buy me a round-trip ticket. I'll probably borrow a few dollars from somebody to make sure.
I would really rather have waited until later for the furlough, but you'd better take it when you can get it. Then, too, this way I'll miss out on the last 11 days of the maneuvers, which is nice. When I return the company will be in garrison again.
By the way, I'll be getting 15 days, 2 more than I should have. But T/5 Daoust fixed it up for me. He's Ass't Company Clerk, and will handle the mail while I'm gone.....he's done it before.
Be seein' ya, Bob
[NOTE: written along the left hand side of the back of the page: P.S. - I'll probably leave Tuesday nite, + get home around noon on Wednesday.]Collection
