Context

January 4, 1947 Dear Bob, After I talked to you in the phone I discovered my present and opened it of course. I really do love it, and from now on shall take great delight in acquiring the appropriate characteristics for one who wears "Tigress" No fooling I really think Faberge puts out wonderful stuff. And mother tells me that you never got your present. I thought Bob had dropped it by your mhouse the night I left (I just barely made the bus so I couldn't) but apparently he didn't make it. Maybe the family can drop it by if you don't have a chance to get it. The hospital set up here is very different from that at Breens. There are about 500 patients, all but a few drug addicts being psychotics most are young navy patients. The doctors are I.S.P.H. officers or Navy officers & the nurses are U. S. P. H. They seem very fine and very accepting of A.R.C. A.R.C. staff members are olderand some ar intriguing but I guess I'll stand that some how. We live off the post (Lee who lives in Washington with me, & I have 2 rooms and a shower at 2101 Lipscomb but think we'll move to a cheaper place in another 3 weeks) and there are certain inconveniences about that - food hunting, laundry, mail boxes, churches etc. that we can't seem to find near us. However we actually get into the work. I think it will prove interesting enough to make up for a lot of difficulties. I hope. This is just a short one since I've got to whip out (in this awful weather too!) and hunt some food, but I did want to say Brother Spalsbury that the perfume was wonderful. Many thanks, Kathleen
