Scope and Content

Handwritten postcard from Lela to Mrs R. D. Denicke, #219 N. 21st St., St. Joseph, Mo. Post marked Aug. 13, 1952, Seattle, Wash., 2¢ postage. The front picture is of 'Rhododendrons And Hood Canal. Here an unusual mineral content in the soil causes Washington's official flower to grow in wild profusion. The delicate pink of the blooms stands out against a backdrop formed by the Olympic Mountains and Mt. Washington.'

Context

Aug 13 - 1952 Dear Denickes Must say thank you for the many fine cards mailed from you vacationists. Judging from them, I'd say you saw something! Boston must be a fine old city and of course little old. New York is past history. I hope you arrived home safely and not too tired. We are busy here - Love Lela
