Dear you-all, It's 8:30 Monday evening, and we're all here in the barracks. Every now and then we are confined to the Battery Area, as for instance when some important work must be done. This evening after chow we cleaned our rifles, since we were out on the 200-yard range today, both morning and afternoon. Today and tomorrow we practice shooting (or firing)all day; then on Wednesday we fire for record. Of course we don't spend all our time firing; much of the time we are coaching other fellows who are firing, or are working in the "pits," moving targets up and down, marking them etc. I's all quite a lot of un. I shot very well today - quite a few bulls-eyes (they count 5), many 4's and a number of 3's. On slow-fire I had nothing below a 3, but on rapid fire I had a few 2s. Maybe I'll get a "Marksman Medal" on Weds. but don't believe I'm quite good enough to qualify for "Sharpshooter" or "Expert." The only mail I had today was a very clever birthday card from Miss Keys at the Library, with a short note on the back. Kathleen must really have let everybody at the Library know that my birthday was on Easter. I won't be getting as much mail as I was until I answer the 15 or 20 letter I owe. I'll have to eliminate some of 'em, I guess. Did Aunt Esther send me something - it's never come. Love & kisses, BobCollection
