Spiro Mound Copper is a Memoir by the Missouri Archaeological Society, Number 11, December, 1974. This book follows the 1952 edition of Spiro Mound. This book goes into detail about the embossed copper excavated at Spiro which is located in Oklahoma. Copper was used extensively by the Indians or natives of the area on their "plates" used in ceremonies and jewelry. Care was not taken to preserve early findings and much was sold or given to anyone who wanted some of the copper pieces. Thus, bits and pieces of copper plates are found over a wide area of the southern United States from Oklahoma to the east coast and from Missouri and Illinois to the Carribean. Included are 115 illustrations of plates excavated and partially restored. Plates have been found from Illinois to the Gulf Coast and from Oklahoma to the Atlantic Ocean.
The cover of the book states that this is a "Memoir -- Missouri Archaeological Society, Number 11 December 1974. Marked from Library of Don Reynolds.
