Articles describe the city in the midst of urban renewal that razed a great number of downtown buildings. In addition, especially noteworthy are continuing work on West Belt Highway, building a new Pony Express Bridge, Restoring the Courthouse, continued building of Missouri Western State College, moving Jesse James house to Patee House Museum, building projects on east side as city moved toward Belt Highway.
