Headline: "St. Joseph's River Front Over 50 Years Ago"
Caption:
"This picture was taken from the south side of Prospect Hill in 1888. Since that time the Missouri River has been driven westward several hundred feet and the accreted land is used by industries and for railroad tracks. The small building with two windows, near the center of the picture, is the old Francis street station, torn down only last year. The river has been narrowed in order to provide a deeper channel for navigation. Many of the buildings in the foreground were razed at the time right of way was acquired for the Chicago Great Western tracks, which join the Burlington just above Francis Street."
