Entry/Object ID

Scope and Content
Lunatic Asylum No. 2. Ledger and Accounts Paid, 1867-1875. Gold leather/suede bound ledger for accounts paid. Ledger is in poor condition with peeling leather.
On the inside of the cover is a sheet of white paper listing appropriations & the amount appropriated for each item. The appropriations appear to be items for furnishing an institution. This ledger predates the original building of the State Lunatic Asylum which was built in 1874.
Page 1 of the ledger lists merchandise inventory & bills payable to individuals. Pages 2-125 are mostly items purchased by individuals. These items are fabric & items having to do with sewing. It is unclear if those receiving the items are seamstresses or individual patients.
Page 127-383 is the "inventory of purchases made for use of State Asylum #2", as written at the top of the page. These purchases are dated Sept. 12,1874 thru Dec. 31,1875. It appears these items are purchased by both companies & individuals & were mostly purchased in St. Joseph.
