Tan premium card from Studebaker & Welch - 7th & Edmond, St. Joseph, MO. after 1889. Illustration of Gen. LaFayette's Carriage, loaned to the Studebaker Mfg. Co. for exhibition at the New Era Exposition and for the opening of our new Store. Lafayette used this carriage on a ride of 285 miles from Albany to Buffalo in 1824 for the opening of the Erie Canal.
This carriage was the only thing saved from the fire that destroyed the main exhibition hall of the New Era exposition on the night of Sept. 15, 1889, and that it was taken out by the wild Apache Indians, will make it more interesting than ever.
