Description

Sweet Nebraska Land. This is a 33 1/3 RPM record. Roger Welsch provided much of the music, itself, in the following manners: vocal, twelve-string guitar, five-string banjo, and autoharp. Terry Schmitt also accompanied him with vocal and intrrumental work. Descriptive notes included with the record tell the story behind each song along with the words. An added notes indicates that many of these songs were collected by WPA (Works Progress Administration) workers who were generally unsophisticated in folklore scholarship and field techniques, but the songs were still valuable keepers. The songs are divided into these categories: the Crossers (on the trails); the Settlers (farmers & cowboys); the Immigrants; War; and Hard Times. 33 1/3 RPM/Record, Phonograph.
