Thirteen Star Flag covers the history of this flag from the 18th century. Although it was the official banner only from 1777 to 1795, it continued to be made into the 19th and 20th century and was used by the navy and military regiments. This book gives information on determining the age of the flag. The author is the Curator of Textiles in the Smithsonian Institution's national museum of history and technology.
