1911-1912 was Catherine C. Moss's year abroad. She went with 7 other young ladies including Grace Lockwood, who later married Archibald Roosevelt, one of President Roosevelt's sons. Their chaperone and instructor was Miss May. Their itinerary included three months in Paris and France, a months tour in Switzerland, and then three months in Florence and Italy. They also spent a month in England. This is her snapshot record of the trip including many images of her and her comapnions and the many sights they enjoyed from London to Florence and everything in between including the Chateau of the Loire Valley which so inspired Catherin's father, J.B. Moss, that he had his home at 906 Slyvanie desgined after the same fashion. Catherine has labeled the photographs and it would appear that a good time was had by all. They sailed on steamship New Amsterdam for France on October 3, 1911. They returned to the U.S. in June of 1912.Context
