Printed below the picture is "Historic WWII Tuskegee Airman Poster Enclosed!" The third section is an paragraph about the Tuskegee Airmen. It reads as follows: "The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African Americans to be trained as WWII military pilots in the U.S. Army Air Corps. This was a time of "Jim Crow" segregation and blatant racism. But with the start of the war, men whose skin defined them as black were also anxious to be defined as patriots. And a group of them also wanted to earn the right to sit in an airplane cockpit even though they could not sit in the front seats of a city bus because of segregation. The Tuskegee Airmen challenged America's racist attitudes with a willingness to give their lives in service to a country not willing to serve them."
