We, Too, Lived has an explanation of "a genealogy of the African-Americans in a Midwest Cemetery, 1850-1950" on the cover. The cemetery is specifically Laurel Hill Cemetary near Weston, Missouri. The author researched the cemetery, cemetery records, newspaper articles, funeral home records and whatever else she could find which would give some kind of record of African-Americans who lived, died, and were buried in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, originally called "City Cemetery." Included are many pictures, a listing of individuals who have existing headstones and also a listing of those buried there who have no headstone. Included are some notes found in The Weston Chronicle. Census records listed slaves as taxable. A Bibliography and Index as included. The book is autographed by the author.
