Ferdinand was a wholesale liquor dealer on South Third Street in St. Joseph, MO. It was one of the largest liquor houses in the United States and brought great fame to St. Joseph. As his sons grew to manhood they developed business talent and became associated with their father's business. A branch was established in Cincinnati.
Samuel, a native of Germany came to St. Joseph MO in 1859. He went into general merchandising and liquor business. The extent of his trade includes Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and New Mexico.
Samuel served 7 years in the city council.
