Description

White, green, and gold commemorative plate. Front: "Second Evangelical United Brethren Church St. Joseph, Missouri" with image of church above. Back: "Second Evangelical United Brethren church was the result of deep interest in a new section of St. Joseph, Missouri, by members of the First E. U. B. Church just before 1900. Several devoted laymen purchased 2 lots at Pryor and Hyde Park, and erected a small chapel, dedicated in 1901. The first fulltime pastor, E.P. Boehringer, came in 1902, and organized the congregation with 7 charter members. In 1906 the present main building was erected with 30 members. In 1925 an educational unit was added, D. McGregor, pastor. There was continued growth. In 1944 under Rev. R. V. Price, the church became self-supporting. By 1950 more room was critically needed so in 1951 a $25,000.00 addition was built. The present membership (1954) is 368. In 1951 a lovely Memorial Organ was given in memory of Marine Cpl. J. E. Barber, by his parents. W. J. Deckinger has been pastor for the last 7 years." Manufacturer stamp reads "World Wide Art Studios Covington, Tenn." 9.25" diameter.
