Wildbahn, William, Mill Operator, Portrait Photo, c. 1870. b/w. Photo of portrait engraving of Wildbahn, part of the Treacy Photo Collection. Shows bust view of man in mid-life, his hair greying. He is mostly clean shaven with small chin whisker beard, wearing dark jacket and bow tie.
Wildbahn came to St. Joseph in 1845 and bought off Joseph Robidoux his grist mill, which Wildbahn operated for 10 years. After selling the mill, he opened a saw mill in Wathena, just as the State was being settled, which served him so well, he sat out the Civil War in relative comfort. His daughter married J.W. Bailey of the dry goods firm Bailey Fairleigh and Weihl.
