Scope and Content

Wire Rope Corporation of America Warehouses and Building Alterations Correspondence, St. Joseph, 1952. Files of George Eckel Architect. Project to construct Warehouse #1 at 2nd & Antoine Streets, and Warehouse #2 on Florence Road, as well as additions and alterations to Buildings #4 & #5, remodeling 5th floor of Building #3. These buildings were the former Jersey Cereal Company at 2nd & Isadore Streets. Wire Rope Corporation purchased the property and began renovations to more their wire rope manufacturing plant from New Haven, Connecticut to St. Joseph starting in 1949. There is a December, 1948 news clipping describing Wire Rope's relocation to St. Joseph including a photograph of the former Jersey Cereal building. File includes correspondence, blueprints, sewer easements, insurance certificates, work proposals, invoices, and bids.
