Description

Bushwhackers of the Border is a story of the Civil War Period in Western Missouri as well as corresponding events over the border into Kansas. Included is a map showing various towns and conflicts in both states--mostly south of the Missouri River. The booklet is divided into these sections: The Border, Border Ruffians, Jayhawkers, The Twelfth Star, Knights of the Bush, The Burnt District, The Dead Men, with an Afterword: Bushwhackers Revenant. Some of the men included in the narrative are- Zebulon Pike, David R. Atchison, John Brown, Sterling Price, Frank and Jesse James as well as Eliza Gabbert, "Lady Bushwhacker." 64/Softbound/Illustrations/Maps/Photographs.
