8"h x 10"w black and white much copied photo of a train climbing the 17-Mile grade in the Allegheny Mountains of Maryland. The track ran over a three arched bridge high over an unnamed river. There were two locomotives, each with a coal car, yoked together to pull more than the visible freight cars over the grade. The locomotives were generating large amounts of smoke. In the lower left corner of the image in white letters: "Climbing the 17 Mile Grade Allegheny Mountains Maryland."
