Adam T. Wible's blacksmith shop in Avenue, Md.Entry/Object ID
1995.001.1715Description
Black and white photo 8"h x 10"w of the interior of Adam T. Wible's blacksmith shop in Avenue, Md. The photo is very dark. The chimney and stove were barely visible in the corner. Mr. Wible was standing next to the forge and a young man was on his right. The forge and work area were between them and two other men, one very tall with a hammer in his hand and another man who looked a lot like Mr. Wible. The same boy from 1995.001.1714 is seated on a box of tools. Whiffletrees hung in one window and stirrups? in another. A pile of horseshoes was at the corner of the forge. Wagon wheels were stacked all around. In the left foreground was a piece of machinery on a pole that I do not recognize. Some sort of stove was on the floor on the left. A photograph of someone was hung in another window; it may have been part of a calendar. Mr. Wible wrote a column for the St. Mary's Beacon under the pen name "Gabriel."
