Aerial view of St. Mary's Seminary Junior College in 1958Entry/Object ID
1980.001.0183Description
11"h x 14"w black and white landscape oriented aerial photo of St. Mary's Seminary Junior College. The camera was pointed northeast, I believe. Brome's Wharf and the St. Mary's River are visible in the foreground. The water at the top left of the photo is also the St. Mary's River. Route 5 is the substantial road that runs from the top middle to the right middle of the photo. It crosses Fisherman Creek marsh and curves past ? Pond as it heads south to Point Lookout. The cruciate building in the center is the reconstructed Maryland State House. Trinity Church steeple is barely visible in the trees, surrounded by a large graveyard. Calvert Hall is the building with the bright white facade, the long narrow building is St. Mary's Hall, The large building behind the water tower is Kent Hall, and the Dutch roofed house is Alumni Lodge. The rectory for Trinity is across the street from the State House and Anne Arundel Hall is the large new building to the right. I do not know the name of the two story building behind it. There is a warehouse down by the wharf and a small home with a screened porch, presumably the wharfmaster's home. There is another very small house just visible to its right.
