Sepia tone photo 5 1/4"h x 3 11/16"w on 6 1/2"h x 4 3/8"w board of infant Alice Elizabeth Marsh. She is facing the camera, but looking very slightly to its left. She has fair hair, delicate features, and extremely bright eyes. Her dress may be a pinafore with a lace dress underneath. There appears to be a double layer of fabric at the shoulders and many pleats at the bodice to create the extremely full skirt. She has on shoes with a very flat sole and appears to have substantial feet for an 8 1/2 month old. She is seated on an elaborate rattan chair with a piece of needlepoint hanging from the seat. She is holding a candy cane and is altogether a lovely young lady. In a 5/8" textured band at the bottom of the board it says "Banner Gallery" with a stamped image of the flag and "1325 F Street Washington, D.C."
