1995.001.0662Description
Carte-de-visite for Aloysius Francis Fenwick (1817-1887). He is posed in the photographer's studio leaning on a marble topped sideboard with a large clock near his hand, a chair in front of him and cloth draped behind him. He has on a frock coat, a vest, white shirt, small dark tie, light colored trousers, and boots. He has a full beard, heavy eyebrows, prominent ears, and may have a comb-over. He does not wear glasses and is very solemn. The card has sepia tones, but that may be dirt and age. In the small space at the bottom, someone has written in ballpoint "Aloys Francis Fenwick I." On the verso of the card there is meant to be an elaborate symbol of Bendann Bros, 207 Baltimore St., but the point of an envelope flap in an unpleasant liver color has permanently glued itself to the card. Above this is written "Miss Rebecca Fenwick 1709 Edmonson Ave. Balti." "Born 1802" is written in ballpoint pen at a later date, but that is not the usual date for Mr. Fenwick.Collection
