Five color photos of the patent for America Felix Secundus, secured by Abraham Barnes when he combined five pieces of property into one large one. The patent had spent most of its life folded with the identifying panel on the outside. The document itself is 26 3/4" wide by 13 7/8" high. The primary horizontal fold line was about 7 3/8" from the top of the document. The three large tears are on this line and there is text loss. There is a piece of ancient wax hanging from the bottom of the document. The text on the verso:
[illegible] St. Mary's County
Mr. Abraham Barnes Pat [illegible]
America Felix Secundus
Recorded in Lib [?] No. 2 Folio 246
[illegible] H. Jennings [illegible] Office
The arbitrarily designated 1st photo is of the folded piece. The 2d photo shows the text on two panels of the unfolded piece. The 3rd photo shows all the unfolded piece. The 4th photo shows the wax seal. The 5th photo shows the text in the center of the piece, but it is too small to be legible.
