Name/Title
Amish women and girls with melonsEntry/Object ID
1988.001.0103Description
This is a 10"h x 8"w black and white photo by A. Aubrey Bodine of a group of Amish women and children standing behind a truck load of watermelon or squash. An African-American boy may have been talking with the women. The focus of the photo is on a young Amish girl in the center who is laughing with her friends. The women and the two older girls have dark bonnets and the two younger girls have lighter bonnets. The automobiles in the background would suggest the photo was taken in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The photo was signed below the image in the lower right corner.
