Name/Title
Andrew J. Hayden's blue sleeve patchEntry/Object ID
2016.005.0011Description
Andrew Jackson Hayden was the only child of Claude and Philomena Hayden. Andrew must have joined the Navy the day after he attained minimum age; he was born in 1927 and joined in 1944. This is the sleeve patch he wore while at Bainbridge Naval Training Station. He was a petty officer trainee. The patch is a very dark Navy with a white embroidered eagle with its wings raised, looped ropes underneath and two red chevrons under that. On the verso, the date 1944 is machine embroidered, but it does not show through to the front.Collection
