Name/Title
Andrew J. Hayden's white sleeve patchEntry/Object ID
2016.005.0012Description
Andrew Jackson Hayden was the only child of Claude and Philomena Hayden. Andrew must have joined the Navy the day after he attained minimum age; he was born in 1927 and joined in 1944. This is the sleeve patch he wore while at Bainbridge Training Station. He was a petty officer trainee. The patch was meant to be white twill, but it is quite dirty now. It has a navy blue embroidered eagle with its wings raised, navy blue looped ropes underneath and two navy blue chevrons under that. On the verso, the date 1944 is machine embroidered, but it does not show through to the front. The patch has a machine stitched hem all the way around.Collection
