Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of Don Swann's etching of Bachelor's Hope. This side of the house shows the portico and exposed stairway. The central portion of the building is two stories with a hipped roof. There is a one story brick wing on each side, also with hipped roofs. There is a single outside end chimney at each end of the two story portion of the house. There are no dormers. On the second floor are three nine over nine windows. The portico has four stout posts and a simple, but elegant, frieze and verge board. There is a central door with two square panels on top, two rectangular windows above the doorknob, and six square panels below the doorknob. There is a single window on each side of the door. The right window is somewhat obscured by the stairway. There is a bench on the portico. There are two large nine over nine windows in the left wing and the same number and style in the right wing. A drive curves in front of the house. Many of the windows appear to be broken and the house has a forlorn look.
