Baltimore Harbor and Light Street, home port of our steamboatsEntry/Object ID
1995.001.1606Description
Black and white 8"h x 10"w photo of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. This is a photo of a photo. Light Street is in the foreground. It is many lanes wide. An electric line runs down the middle of the street and there is parking under those poles. A long line of offices and/or freight terminals lines the waterfront. A tall clock tower with an open cupola graces the middle of one long building. The building has tall windows, several of which are open. There are many names along the top of the building, but the only legible one is "Bay Line" on the near end. There are lots of cars in the street and several horse drawn wagons picking up freight. There are several steamboats and paddlewheel boats in the harbor. The tall buildings of the City are in the background.
