8"h x 10"w black and white photo of a Baltimore & Potomac locomotive. The equipment was facing right. Most similar photos had the equipment facing left. In the lower left of the image it said "Balt. & Potomac 6.24.D3 Nov 1872" Just above the date in a shadow is "18153-52." There is nothing to compare it to, but the engine looks small. It had three pairs of driving wheels. There were tanks near the nose and the nose had a coupling device, but no cowcatcher. There was a large headlight projecting from the top of the smokebox and a very large smokestack. There was a bell in a harness directly behind the smokestack and then two domes with a rather oriental flair on top of the firebox. The cab was large with three windows on each side and two on the front. There was a catwalk behind the cab. The name of the railroad was painted on the side of the firebox with appropriate decoration in the corners. If there was a number on the locomotive, it is not legible.
