Bank Will Be Closed signEntry/Object ID
2014.018.0004Description
This sign was a black metal rectangle 13 1/2"h x 11 1/4"w with folded edges that allowed for a piece of cardboard to be slid in place under the metal. In its present configuration, the sign had three panels. The text on all panels was indented and each indent filled with silver paint to spell out words. The top panel was 5 1/2"h and said "This Bank Will Be Closed," the next panel was 2 1/4"h and was for the day--in this case "Wednesday", and the bottom panel was 4 1/8" and said "Washington's Birthday" on two lines. The sign was hung from two punched holes in the top with ordinary household string, probably inside the door of the bank.Collection
