Description

Black and white 3 1/2"h x 5 11/16"w photo of Bard's Field. It is a story and a half gable roof with the front and rear porch rooflines incorporated into the whole. There are two outside end chimneys on each gable end. In this view, the right chimney has one stack. On the near side of the chimney stack is a small window with bright white framing. At the bottom of the chimney are two propane tanks. On the other side of the chimney is an entry door. It opens onto a deck that is three steps above the ground. There is an icebox? in front of the chimney with a screen door frame leaning against it in a large triangle. There is a trash pile next to this deck. The covered porch on this side of the house is supported by six posts on the long edge and one post next to the house wall. The porch is five steps above the ground , but the type of floor support is obscured by foliage. The steps to the porch are in the center of the space and presumably the door to the house is in the center also. There is lattice work for plants on the right side of the steps. One six over six window is on each side of the door The roof on this side of the house is of two different materials--perhaps it is being replaced. The cedar shakes over the porch seem to be in poor repair. The corbels of both chimneys on the far gable end appear to be compromised. Text on scrapbook page: "Chimney blown off in storm August 1934." ********************************** Text on verso: "Picture 365. Bard's Field 1955 C 146" This photo was on page 1, the beginning of a new succession of page numbers in Binder 2.
