Black and white photo 5"h x 9 1/2"w of Benedict Love sitting on his beautiful glass-enclosed hearse with a pair of black horses to pull it. An African-American assistant was on his right. Each man was wearing a dark hat and Mr. Love may have had on white gloves. There was a substantial brass carriage light just below the level of the carriage seat on the side of the vehicle facing the viewer. There were brass rails on the floor of the hearse. There was some sort of fixture on the roof that I cannot identify. The wheels in back were considerably larger than the wheels in front. The equippage was framed against dark foliage that made it very difficult to see details. On a line just below the horses' feet and the carriage wheels was crude black lettering: "B. B. Love Funeral Director Morganza, Md." The writing was white originally, but was overwritten with black. This is an old photo that Mr. Fenwick copied. The original had broken corners.
