Folder 000191. Pieces 191-200 There is a form from the Provost-Marshall's office telling Dent he has one colored person liable for service, Jameison, age 43, but Dent responded that Jameison's age was actually 47, exempting him from service. There is a letter from Theophilus Scott to his mother--this young man may have been a Dent slave. There is a printed form asking Dent to speak at a meeting supporting George McClellan as a candidate for president. Another letter shows Dent did attend a convention in Washington near that time. Mrs. Dent applied for a permit to land several grocery items her husband had shipped from the city. Dent himself applies for such a permit at another time. Two members of the Blackistone family write about the deaths of family members in Confederate service.
