1 folder ; 14 3/4" w x 9 5/8" h Folder 000088. Pieces 1981-1990 There is a copy of the wills of John Benjamin Dent and Ellen Allstan. John F. Dent was the executor for each person, John B. Dent being his father. 5 daughters and 3 sons were mentioned in that will. Ellen Allstan's will left $1000, a large sum at the time, to All Saints' Church, to be managed by John Dent. There is a list of names, ages, and values of John B. Dent's slaves and the disposition of those people. John F. Dent was guardian for Robert D. Posey and John V. Posey and there are sheets of accounts for those children, especially the costs of clothing, tuition, room and board. There are also accounts for the rental of land and hire of enslaved persons inherited by the boys from 1847 to 1855.
