1 certificate ; 8 1/2" w x 10 1/2" h Certificate from the Governor of Maryland, Thomas Hicks, naming John F. Dent to what came to be called the Peace Convention . Dent was named in January 1861 and the Commission met in February 1861. This was a last attempt to avoid the Civil War.
